Scope and Contents:
This photo album includes photographic prints from Grace's time in New Guinea, Philippines and Japan between August 1944 and April 1946. The photographs from New Guinea and Philippines were taken while Grace was in the Women's Army Corps and stationed in the Pacific Theater at the end of World War II. The photographs in New Guinea were shot at the Angau Compound, Finschhafen, and Oro Bay. A large amount of the photographs in this album were shot in Manila, Philippines, at the close of the war. These include images of Grace and her colleagues within the local communities as well as images of official army happenings. The last section of the album includes photographs taken in Japan from the end of 1945 to April of 1946. These include photographs taken in Yonezawa, Nikko and Tokyo, where Grace was stationed as Chief of the recruitment section, in the Department of Army Civilians. See also photo folders 13-18.
