"The firm was founded by John Hanchett, who received an 1891 patent for a saw swage. The earliest definite reference to Hanchett Swage Works is from 1909. The latest reference we have found is from 1926. It seems that for a brief time around 1928 the name had become Covel-Hanchett Co., and by 1930 the name had again changed, to Hanchett Manufacturing Co. Somewhere between 1969 and 1972 the name changed once more, to Hanchett Co. We have not found any references to Hanchett Co. beyond 1972."
