Scope and Contents:
Biographical materials include short biographical sketches, resumes, and printed pamphlets for Casper Citron's run for the United States House of Representatives.

Correspondence is with family, friends, and colleagues. Letters from the 1940s discuss her murals in Newport and Manchester, Tennessee. Other correspondents include the American Color Print Society and the U.S. Department of State which helped to organize her international exhibitions. Also found are typescripts of letters Citron wrote to family while in Paris in 1947.

Writings include notes and outlines for lectures and articles on art by Citron. Printed materials include many exhibition announcements and catalogs for her exhibitions in the United States and abroad, some of which are annotated. There are portraits and snapshots of Citron and of Citron with her art, as well as photographs of events, family, friends, exhibitions, studio spaces, and Citron's artwork. Also found are pencil sketches, ink sketches, an etching, a woodblock print, and two lithographs.

Ethel Katz Papers

Scope and Contents:
Letters are from Katz's relatives in France, galleries, art organizations, and the Civil Defense Volunteer Office regarding Katz's work during World War II. Other correspondents include her pupils and colleagues from the Art Students League including Patricia Hand, Marjorie and Hon-Chew Hee, Jose Morales, and Stewart Klonis. One letter is from Theophile Schneider.

Photographs depict Katz, her family, her friends, and her paintings, and her father Theophile Schneider. Photographers include Alman & Co., Laura Gilpin, William Charles Nortzel, J. E. Purdy, and G. Schuhmann.

Writings are on art and include art supply lists and outlines for class lectures at the Art Students League.

Katz's sketches, drawings and sketchbooks comprise the bulk of the collection, and include figure drawings and landscape sketches from the United States West, New England, and Eastern Canada. Sketches may include notations on location and color. Sixty-four figure drawings are done in silverpoint. Works by other include a painted sketch of Katz by Isabel Bishop and of illustrated greeting cards by Patricia Hand.

Professional files contain records relating to Kohlmeyer's many commissions, works of art, and affiliations with galleries and museums around Louisiana and the Southern United States. Files may include correspondence, financial records, photographs, printed material, sketches, and writings. Of note are files on galleries with which Kohlmeyer had longstanding professional relationships such as the Arthur Roger Gallery, Findlay Gallery, Henri Gallery, and the Mint Art Museum. Also found is a file for Acquatic Colonnade and other commissions.

Summary:
Collection consists of miscellaneous late nineteenth/early twentieth century scrapbooks containing postcards, trade cards, greeting cards, decals, and other ephemera.
Scope and Contents note:
Miscellaneous late nineteenth/early twentieth century scrapbooks containing postcards, trade cards, greeting cards, decals, and other ephemera. Included are: (1) trade cards for thread, tobacco, barbers, sewing machines, toiletries and shaving products, tobacco, undertakers and patent medicine; (2) images of women, children, pets, and flowers; (3) greeting cards celebrating Christmas, birthdays, Halloween, and St. Patrick's Day; and (4) postcards from the United States and around the world. Some of the items in the scrapbooks are comical or picturesque. Most of the scrapbooks were created by women. Also included are several twentieth century diaries, including two travel diaries written by women.

Collection is arranged into one series.
Provenance:
Scrapbook donated by Mike Blakeslee on September 19, 1997. The collection continues to add accruals.
