This collection consists of George Bech's diary, detailing his life and missions from December 11, 1943 to July 1, 1944, as well as original photographs and copy prints of the Bonnie B, George Bech, and the 303rd Bomb Group. There is also a memorandum of special orders from Headquarters, Air Transport Command, 3/16/1944.
Biographical / Historical:
1st Lt. George N. Bech, Jr. was a World War II pilot and bomber with the 303rd Bomb Group, 8th U.S. Army Air Force, stationed in Europe. His plane, the Boeing B-17G Bonnie B, was probably named after his newborn daughter, Bonnie Bech, and is featured in a National Air and Space Museum mural painted by Keith Ferris.
