Biographical / Historical:
John Barton was Chair of the College of Agriculture at the University of Wisconsin when the Rural Artists Program and the Artist-in-Residence position were initiated. John Steuart Curry was the first artist to hold the Artist-in-Residence position.
Provenance:
The State Historical Society of Wisconsin organized, arranged and microfilmed these papers. The Archives of American Art purchased copies of the film.
