This subseries contains materials that were submitted as part of the 1996 Golden Hill Paugussett petition for federal recognition and subsequent appeals process with the BIA that ended in 2004. Most documents were created by the Golden Hill tribe and affiliated researchers including Blair Rudes, though some were created by the BIA and other groups interested in the tribe's petition. Materials include legal and technical reports and other documents, correspondence, tribal documents, legal strategy plans, and publicity. Many of these materials contain Rudes's personal notes, edits, and comments that are written in the margins.

Materials are arranged in alphabetical order by folder title. Materials within folders retain Rudes's original arrangement.
