Film collection created by Martin Moyer primarily consists of 59 edited film titles produced and distributed for the educational film market by his independent film company Martin Moyer Productions based in Seattle, Washington. Film subjects include social and cultural studies, geography, environmental sciences, art, mathematics, forestry, and physical education.
Collection also includes ten edited films produced by Martin Moyer in the early 1950s in partnership with Charles Stinson for their production company South Sea Films based in Suva, Fiji. These ten shorts were filmed in Fiji and the Pacific Islands and document the culture of that region. In addition, the collection includes film of South Africa from the 1940s and 1950s attributed to Richard Peck.
Finally, there are miscellaneous film materials related to collaborative and sponsored projects that include film footage of India, Nepal, Europe and Africa.
Supplementary materials: photographs, synopses, study guides, promotional materials, newspaper articles.

Biographical / Historical:
Martin Moyer was an independent producer and distributer of educational films primarily from the 1950s through the 1970s. His company, Martin Moyer Productions, was based in Seattle, Washington. Film subjects include social and cultural studies, art, geography, forestry, environmental sciences, physical education and mathematics. In the early 1950s Moyer, in partnership with Charles Stinson, produced short films shot in Fiji and other South Pacific islands, for their production company South Sea Films based in Suva, Fiji.

Edited film produced by Martin Moyer and directed and narrated by Charles Stinson in assocaition with South Sea Films for television. Film begins with film footage of a major intersection in Suva, Fiji, with the narrator explaining that here all the races of the South Pacific can be seen. Stinson proceeds to interview the "man on the street" followed by a visit to the Suva market (breadfruit, taro and Tongan baskets), viewing unloading the boat Komaiwai at portside and listening to two songs sung by the shipmates of the boat Tuveuni. ("We Live in Suva Today" is first song.)
