This accession consists of the files created by the Office of the Registrar in the course of their work on fifteen exhibitions shown between 1982 and 1991, including
Peace and Friendship: Indian Peace Medals in the United States, on view from January through July 1985; Charles Willson Peale and His World, November 1982 through
January 1983; Miguel Covarrubias: Caricatures, November 1984 through January 1985; A Truthful Likeness: Chester Harding and His Portraits, April through September
1985; William Edward West, 1788-1857: Kentucky Painter, April through June 1985; Joseph Wright: American Artist, February through June 1985; and U.S. Grant:
The Man and the Image, July through November 1985.
The files include information about the transport of objects, such as insurance documents and bills of lading; facilities and condition reports and photographs; object
checklists and photographs; documentation of security arrangements; and information on the development of the catalogue.
The bulk of the records consist of lender files containing loan agreements, memoranda, object photographs, and correspondence between the museum and the lender.
