According to a National Air and Space Museum Archive staff member these are photographic prints made by the Smithsonian Institution, Office of Imaging, Printing and Photographic Services from nitrate negatives. The nitrate negatives were destroyed.

This accession consists of images in a variety of formats of objects and other items displayed in the "Star Wars: The Magic of the Myth" exhibition which was on view
at the National Air and Space Museum (NASM) from October 31, 1997, through January 31, 1999. The images, many of which were taken by the Smithsonian Institution's Office of
Imaging, Printing, and Photographic Services, were maintained by NASM's Office of Public Affairs. Some images depict staff posing with the objects. Materials also include
event invitations, correspondence, and Star Wars-related postcards, stickers, and other ephemera.
