Descriptive Entry:
This accession consists of records that document the planning and redesign of the original, static Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden's website, first launched in
1997. The redesigned website is completely dynamic; presenting web pages constructed "on-the-fly" using a content load tool that accesses image and descriptive content from
a central database of information. The database includes images, descriptions of collection objects, background information on the history of the museum and its design, as
well as the general information on the life of Joseph H. Hirshhorn and his art collection. The database can also generate a current calendar of events. The redesign was a
collaborative effort between the Hirshhorn's Department of Public Programs/Curatorial Division, Office of Public Affairs, Department of Education, and Second Story Interactive,
a web design firm; and managed by Anne-Louise Marquis, Interim Web Manager and Research Associate in the Public Programs/Curatorial Division.
Records include correspondence and memoranda, notes, design specifications, Request for Proposal (RFP), design ideas, text, and financial records. Records exist either
in paper or electronic form and are not necessarily duplicated in both forms.
