Inscription on flyleaf: "I / Journal of / Dr. L.H. Baekeland / Yonkers, NY [sic] / March 12, 1914 / to August 16, 1914." The diary details Baekeland's daily activities. He writes often of his visits and discussions, and the subjects of correspondence he has written and received. It sheds light on the use and distance of travel by automobile in the early twentieth century. In the notes, Baekeland explains increasing time spent in the laboratory in 1914.

This photograph was taken by Dr. Simon Ottenberg while conducting field research in northern Sierra Leone within Bafodea Town, the capital of Wara Wara Bafodea Chiefdom, while on an Art Historical and Anthropological Field Research from October of 1978 through July of 1980.
Original title reads, "Kasongo Village. Preliminaries to boys' going to bush for initiation. The second boy with the face masks climbs the pole to twirl about. I have never seen this in the Bafodea part of the combined chiefdom, only here in Kamuke." [Ottenberg field research notes, Limba Slides and Photographs, October 1978-July 1980].

This photograph was taken by Dr. Simon Ottenberg while conducting field research in northern Sierra Leone within Bafodea Town, the capital of Wara Wara Bafodea Chiefdom, while on an Art Historical and Anthropological Field Research from October of 1978 through July of 1980.
Original title reads, "Kasongo Village. Preliminaries to boys' going to bush for initiation. The second boy with the face masks climbs the pole to twirl about. I have never seen this in the Bafodea part of the combined chiefdom, only here in Kamuke." [Ottenberg field research notes, Limba Slides and Photographs, October 1978-July 1980].
