This subseries focuses on the Denver Indian Study Project. The project surveyed individuals, agencies, and schools, to obtain a census of Indian families residing and working in Denver. The project was conducted from 1963 to 1964 to assist city agencies in planning programs and improving services. Materials in this series are dated from when the project took place. The files are arranged alphabetically by subject. Correspondence, survey cards, contracts, notes, receipts, lists, and tables are included.

This series focuses on materials from American Indian Development, Inc. (AID). AID is a Colorado non-profit educational and charitable corporation. AID was established in 1957 to assist and encourage American Indians to develop and utilize advantages and resources available to them to expand their participation in community, state, and national life. From 1967 to 1970 Helen Peterson served as part-time executive director to AID. The materials in Series 3 focuses on when Peterson was the part-time executive director. Folders are arranged in alphabetical order. Materials in this series include teaching materials, student papers, exams, correspondence, donor cards, articles, booklets, brochures, reports, notes, surveys, and a photo negative.

Helen Peterson was appointed Assistant to the Commissioner of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) in 1970 and was a part of the BIA until 1985. The bulk of the materials are from her time at the BIA but the series as a whole spans from 1944 until 1990. Materials in this series include correspondence, resumes, forms, articles, photographs, art designs, reports, census data, flyers, notes, employment, papers, pamphlets, maps, standards, booklets, and thank you letters. The folders are arranged alphabetically beginning with the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians and ending with the Weekly Report. Folders with the same name are arranged chronologically with the earliest date placed first.
