Due to the small size of this collection the papers are arranged as one series.
Biographical / Historical:
Grace Overmyer (1888-1976) was an author in New York City, New York. Born in Kansas, she worked as a society columnist before moving to New York City and becoming a freelance writer. She wrote on issues related to government support of the arts including Government and the Arts which was published in 1939.

Scope and Contents:
Grace Overmyer's introduction to her questionnaire lists all of the respondents, their titles, and locations. Also found is a letter from Overmyer to the Archives of American Art. The bulk of the collection consists of the responses of U.S. Consuls abroad regarding the governmental support for the arts in countries around the world. Many letters are detailed and served as the basis for Overmyer's book Government and the Arts (1939).
