Alexander Daveron was a doctor at Johns Hopkins University. In 1931, he joined a team of scientists and big game hunters on an expedition to Mato Grosso, Brazil. He decide to stay in Brazil and lived in Mato Grosso until his death in 1987.

The photos are mostly of Daveron and his assistants posing with animals that he killed, which include a jaguar, a maned wolf, a deer, and what look like either peccaries or wild boars.
