This accession consists of records documenting the health of animals at the Conservation and Research Center as well as some animals at the National Zoological Park's
main facility. The records also document medical procedures performed by the veterinarians. Materials include bound and loose daily medical reports and diaries, anesthesia
records, and videotapes of medical procedures and examinations. Animals documented in the videotapes include cheetahs, giraffes, dik-diks, brocket deer, dorcas gazelles, bongos,
blesboks, Eld's deer, tigers, cranes, European brown bears, spectacled bears, leopard tortoises, secretary birds, pigeons, turtles, leopards, Geoffrey's cats, owls, apes,
maned wolves, and elephants.
