Jewel Smitherman Rogers was born June 12, 1917 in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the Greenwood District. During the Race Massacre, the family home was burned to the ground. Rogers was self-employed working as a Tax Preparer. She served as a plaintiff in the court case, Alexander, et al., v. Oklahoma, et al. in 2003. She died on March 7, 2010 in Perris, California.
