Scope and Contents:
Papers relating mainly to Byard's business as a dealer in American antique furniture. Included are correspondence, 1950-1960, with Henry N. Flynt, Robert B. Hanan, A. M. Adler (Hirschl & Adler), Ellerton M. Jette, Cornelius C. Moore, Dr. J. Reed McClure, Otto M. Wasserman, Electra Webb (Shelburne Museum), and others; a scrapbook, 1908; notes from lectures; an obituary notice; and letters to Mrs. Dorothy Byard after her husband's death.
Biographical / Historical:
Art and antique dealer; Norwalk, Conn.. Byard graduated from Columbia Law School in 1911. Ill health prompted Byard to move to the country, where he made his interest in early American antiques into a business. The library at the Heritage Foundation in Deerfield, Massachusetts, bears his name.
Provenance:
Donated 1959-1961 by Mrs. John Kenneth Byard, widow of Byard.

Typescripts, including excerpts of letters received from Horton's son, Colonel W. Gray Horton, writings on Horton by his son, reviews, articles and exhibition catalogs concerning Horton, and a London journal kept by the Jettés while doing research on Horton.
Also included are exhibition catalogs, an undated photograph of Horton, a Columbia University seminar report on Horton by Nicholas Fox Weber, and a letter to the Jettes from Weber concerning the report.
Biographical / Historical:
The Jettés were amateur art historians; Sebec, Maine. William S. Horton was an American painter who lived and worked in Paris.

Scope and Contents:
A notebook entitled "Information about Walter Griffin, American Impressionist, 1861-1935," containing assorted pertinent material asssembled by Ellerton Jetté, including a twelve page biographical sketch of Griffin, letters to Griffin, honor and awards given Griffin, exhibition catalogs, and miscellany.
Provenance:
The donor, Mrs. Rupert Lovejoy, and her husband were evidently Portland, Maine art collectors who were approached by Jetté regarding their Griffin paintings, while Jetté was assisting in the organization of a Griffin retrospective at the Vose Galleries of Boston.
