Descriptive Entry:
This accession consists of film, videotapes, and audio elements documenting Smithsonian Institution orientation productions for the Visitor Information and Associates'
Reception Center (VIARC). The first production, titled "The Smithsonian Institution," was completed in 1984 and was updated in 1989. The production was redone in the early
1990s and released as "Guide to the Smithsonian" in 1994 with Ira Michael Heyman, Secretary, narrating. A 2001 version featured Lawrence M. Small, Secretary, as narrator.
Materials consist of 16 mm film, 1/4" audiotapes, 1" magnetic audio tapes, 1/4" videotapes, Betacam tapes, and 3/4" U-matics. Also includes VIARC camera reports and logs.
