Historical Note:
The Declining Amphibian Populations Task Force (DAPTF) was established under the sponsorship of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Species
Survival Commission (SSC) around 1990. It is a volunteer collaborative group that focuses on the question of frog species survival. One of the functions of the DAPTF is to
assemble all known references to inventory and monitoring efforts on amphibians on a worldwide scale.

Response Fund grants. Materials include correspondence, proposals, reports, articles, and newspaper clippings. Also included are copies of the DAPTF newsletter Froglog,
materials concerning the DAPTF Board, memoranda, agenda, symposia, publications, and budget. Some materials are in electronic format.
Historical Note:
The Declining Amphibian Populations Task Force (DAPTF) was established under the sponsorship of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Species Survival
Commission (SSC) in 1991. On June 30, 2006, DAPTF became part of the IUCN Amphibian Specialists Group (ASG), which will continue and expand DAPTF's mission as an organization
devoted to amphibian research and conservation.

This accession consists of papers documenting the career of W. Ronald Heyer, curator in the Division of Amphibians and Reptiles at the National Museum of Natural History.
Heyer's research focuses on the systematics, evolution, and biogeography of Neotropical amphibians. There is also a small amount of materials created by James Arthur Peters,
also a curator in this division. In addition, there are records relating to Heyer's work with the World Congress of Herpetology and the IUCN/SSC Declining Amphibian Populations
Task Force. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and postcards; meeting notes; divisional materials; data; illustrations; manuscript materials; and photographs, slides,
