This series consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence documenting the paleontological research of Thomas Wayland Vaughan and Lloyd William Stephenson. The
letters concern the identification, loan, and acquisition of invertebrate fossil specimens. Correspondents include museum curators, university professors, state geologists,
and economic geologists. Correspondence between 1913 and 1923 was carried out by Vaughan and Stephenson. Correspondence after 1923 is primarily that of Stephenson. Also included
are a few letters documenting research activities of other staff members of the Section of Coastal Plain Investigations.
