Scope and Contents:
The microfilmed Arthur and Jean Goodwin Ames papers contain illustrations of murals by Arthur Ames; a biographical sketch of the artists; the WPA-FAP publication Southern California Creates; and miscellany.
Biographical / Historical:
Arthur Ames (1906-1975) and Jean Goodwin Ames (1903-1986) were painters and enamel artists in California. Jean Goodwin Ames was also an educator and taught at Scripps College and the Claremont Graduate School, where she was honored with the title professor emerita.

The Archives of American Art also holds the oral history interview with Arthur and Jean Goodwin Ames, 1965 June 9. Scripps College, Ella Strong Denison Library holds the Jean and Arthur Ames Scrapbook Collection, 1929-1980.
