Biographical / Historical:
Hedy Backlin-Landman (1920-2014), also known professionally as Hedy Landman, was a museum director and author. She directed the Cooper Union Museum for the Arts of Decoration in New York City and the Busch-Reisinger Museum at Harvard University.

Hedy Backlin-Landman donated her papers to the Archives of American Art in 1977.

Series comprises Backlin-Landman's papers related to her directorships of the Cooper Union Museum for the Arts of Decoration and the Busch-Reisinger Museum at Harvard University. Records include administrative materials documenting the history of the institutions such as reports, meeting minutes, and membership lists, as well as correspondence, printed materials, and exhibition preparation materials. Also found are scattered photographs of events at the Busch-Reisinger Museum, and photos of the Cooper Union's closure and of James Rorimer in the Cooper Union halls.
