Purchase of 9 Japanese and Korean works of paintings and lacquer from the Asian art dealer Yamanaka & Co. in New York. Purchases included 2 Japanese panel carvings of Buddhist apasaras, and a Korean painting of Avalokitesvara. Purchase was originally agreed upon in December of 1906, but payment was made in January of the following year.

Paintings purchased from Charles Freer's closest advisor Ernest Fenollosa. Purchases included one of the famous Daitoku-ji Luohan scrolls by Lin Tinggui (active late 12th century), as well as 2 paintings by the contemporary Japanese painters Hashimoto Gaho and Kano Hogai.
