Materials date from 1969-1992 and also include material on racism and discrimination at the University of Connecticut in general, consisting of clippings, ephermera, memos, and notes.

The bulk of the files relate to a controversy surrounding the racist implications of biological determinism and the place of this field of study in the anthopology department at the University. Other files include materials from the New University Conference (NUC), a progressive organization that Faris was a part of, and files regarding his participation in Anthropologists for Radical Political Action (ARPA).
