This accession consists of the website and blog maintained by the Smithsonian Affiliations. Smithsonian Affiliations is a membership program for museums and other cultural
institutions.
The website, crawled February 5, 2013, discusses requirements and benefits of membership and provides a description of each of its affiliated organizations. In addition,
it includes digital copies of The Affiliate paper newsletter and the electronic e-Affiliate newsletter.
The Affiliate blog, crawled February 26, 2013, highlights programs at affiliate organizations. The blog was opened in July 2006.
This accession consists of a reference set the newsletter The Affiliate, which
documents the activities of the Smithsonian Affiliations program and Smithsonian
collaborative partnerships with museums, cultural and educational organizations across
the United States. Some newsletters are special editions, one of which is a tribute
to Harold A. Closter, Director of Smithsonian Affiliations from 2004 to 2017. Materials
include newsletters.
