Scope and Contents:
Unbound special orders issued relating to the restoration of property, July 1865–May 1867, are arranged chronologically. The first orders were issued by Bureau headquarters in Washington, but the remaining orders were issued by the Assistant Commissioner for North Carolina. Copies of these orders are in the three volumes, 1 (22), 2 (25), and 3 (27), of special orders of the Office of the Assistant Commissioner reproduced on roll 21 of National Archives Microfilm Publication M843.
