Lists, Reports, and Correspondence Pertaining to Land and Property

Scope and Contents:
Lists, reports, and correspondence pertaining to land and property, arranged by type of record. There are three kinds of lists: lists of abandoned land, October 1865–January 1868, arranged in two alphabetical sequences (first by county and then by general geographical area): consolidated lists of abandoned land and property, September 30, 1865–September 30, 1868, arranged chronologically; and a list of personal property (debts) held by the Bureau, November 15, 1866. Reports relating to land and property include reports relating to restoration of abandoned land, February 14–December 19, 1867, arranged chronologically; a report on abandoned land and property leased in Memphis, October 1865. The correspondent relating to the restoration of property, January 23, 1864–January 23, 1868, is arranged alphabetically by surname of correspondent.
