General:
The Greek Garden, designed by William Welles Bosworth, was a central feature at Greystone. It was a bi-level, terraced garden, enclosed by walls with octagonal towers at the corners. The color gardens were located north of the vista and south of the vegetable garden. These space were connected by a series of staircases. The Eagle's Nest was an overlook, constructed of rock, with a view over the property of the Hudson. An elaborate rock garden was also constructed around the tall overlook. In early years, it may have once contained a small greek temple; in later years, a cast stone and ironwork pergolas structure later appeared in this location, and remains there today.

The Greek Garden, designed by William Welles Bosworth, was a central feature at Greystone. It was a bi-level, terraced garden, enclosed by walls with octagonal towers at the corners. Greek temple with tulips in the foreground; note wisteria on trellis to one side.

The estate papers of sculptor Paul Manship measure 0.01 linear feet and consists of 132 items from 1966. The collection consists of correspondence and legal documents regarding the final distribution of art works in the estate of Paul Manship, 1966, and an inventory and appraisal of art objects in Manship's New York studio at 901 Broadway and his summer home at Lanesville near Glousester, Massachusetts. Checkmarks in the inventory indicate works selected by the Smithsonian Institution for the National Museum of American Art.

This interview of sculptor Paul Manship was conducted by the Columbia University Oral History Research Office, New York City, in 1956 and is 70 pages long. Manship recalls his family background and growing up in Jackson, Mississippi; his early art education; working as a studio assistant for Solon Borglum and later Isidore Konti; studying animal anatomy with Borglum; his trip to Spain with Hunt Diederich; his three-year fellowship at Pierpont Morgan Memorial, commissioned works such as the Bronx Zoological Garden gates, Pail J. Rainey Memorial Gateway; collaborations with architects; his friendship with John Singer Sargent; Manship's studio in Paris; the New York World's Fair, 1939; and exhibitions of his sculpture. There are two copies of the same interview in the folder.
