An interview of Suzanne La Follette conducted 1976 Jan. 27, by Paul J. Karlstrom, for the Archives of American Art.
La Follette speaks of her two books, "Art in America," 1929, and "Concerning Women," 1927; and her friendship with Walter Pach and the inspiration and guidance he provided.

Scope and Contents:
Two letters, May 19, 1943 and February 11, 1944, from John Sloan. He described his stay at "Miss White's beautiful home in Sante Fa with 16 of my works on the walls...I have lived before with lots of my paintings around me but never before have I been flanked by 'Sold' ones." He also mentioned his marriage to Helen Farr, "a very lucky girl less than half my age" and other personal matters.
Biographical / Historical:
La Follette, a friend of John Sloan, was born in Washington state. She was a writer of conservative issues and was founding editor of The National Review. She also wrote and edited for such magazines as The American Mercury and The Freeman and was active in early anti-Soviet causes. She wrote several books, including "Art in America," which followed the course of American artistic development from the Colonial era.
