The sound recordings, dated 1963-1987, undated, consist of cassettes, sound tape reels, and CDs that did not easily fit within other series in this collection. The 121 sound recordings include material related to various other American Indian languages and tribes outside of Quapaw and Kaw (Kansa, Kanza), including the Choctaw, Muscogee (Creek), Ioway, Otoe, Kiowa, Omaha, Ponca, and Skagit. There are also materials relating to European and Eastern European languages. Some of the items may be produced or otherwise copyrighted language tapes that Rankin copied and used in classes or for his own personal studies. The contents of the majority of these sound recordings has not been verified.
