CDR copy FW-ASCH-7RR-0773 is both interview and soliloquey of Kevin Roth's 91 year-old grandmother, Regina. Kevin has included a letter to Moe along with the tape, in which he refers to the recording as "a very special new documentary tape i.. "Songs, Stories, and Philosophies of an Orthodox Jewish Grandmother." She presents, in rambling manner, in thick dialect with occasional lapses into Yiddish, her views of life, religion, being Jewish, being a good person, etc. along with descriptions of her youth, husband, sister, their early days, etc. Also, she sings fragments of various songs in Yiddish, Romanian and Hungarian. The tape was recorded by Kevin in July, 1983. As singer, composer and dulcimer player, Kevin Roth recorded a variety of albums for Folkways See other sheets for track list and durations.
