[Cliveden]: iris and a stepping stone path, probably in the vicinity of the water garden.

Place:

Date:
1929 Jun.

Original identification number: 042
Cliveden was visited during the Garden Club of America's June 1929 tour to England. A complete copy of the GCA tour itinerary was printed in the Bulletin of the Garden Club of America (Fourth Series, No. 5), September 1929, pp. 6-25. Cliveden has not been absolutely confirmed as the location of this image. However, in Louise Newton's slide show this image is sequenced at the end of other Cliveden images and before images of another garden, Abbotswood, which was visited the following day. Since the first Abbotswood images show the house and adjacent gardens it seems logical that the Cliveden series would conclude with an image relating to the one immediately preceding, of the water garden, ENG120041.
