Henry Lookout, an Osage Indian, made an indefinite loan of documents (NAA MS 4405 and 4406) and a Jefferson Peace Medal (NAA MS 4407) to the Bureau of American Ethnology in 1952. His descendents later requested the return of the material and all items except the peace medal were repatriated in the Director's office of the National Museum of Natural History on September 27, 1990.
