Scope and Contents:
Introductory material for each reel in the collection, created at the time the collection was originally microfilmed in 1971, is provided at the beginning of the container listing. For each reel there is also a detailed list of the contents in order of filming; researchers should note the lists do not provide frame ranges.
Biographical material includes awards and honors, lists of Dallin's works, and writings about Dallin including a typescript entitled "A Biographical Sketch," by Stillman Powers. Biographical and other material relating to Vittoria Colonna Dallin includes her 132 page notebook with brief journal entries; autobiographical notes; and a typescripts of a manuscript entitled "Cyrus Dallin and the 'Great Spirit'" (author undetermined). Additional material documenting her life includes clippings about her work as an author of books and poems and as an active member in Arlington civic life.
Correspondence is personal and professional and includes letters to Dallin from family and friends and from artists such as Augustus St. Gaudens, John Singer Sargent, Vesper George, and others. Folders of correspondence and mixed material may include letters and other material such as contracts, printed material, and photographs.
Business records include contracts, and material relating to a copyright lawsuit filed by Dallin.
Printed material includes clippings about Dallin, including his exhibitions and other activities, exhibition catalogs and invitations, and related printed matter. Also included are two clippings, one containing a poem written by Dallin about the delayed contract for his statue of Paul Revere in Boston.
Also found are a sketchbook, four subject files, and photographs of Dallin and his work. Dallin's photographic research files consist primarily of photographs of Dallin's subjects and sculptures, related photos and clippings, and some correspondence.

The papers are arranged by material type. Introductory material and lists of subjects for each microfilm reel can be found at the beginning of the container list. Photographic research files are primarily arranged alphabetically by title of art work or subject.
