Memorabilia of fairs and World's Fairs throughout history, both in the United States and abroad, including photographs, stereographs, panoramas and slides; printed materials; postcards; sheet music; philatelic material; stationery and greeting cards; menus and food service items; posters; shopping bags; motion picture films; and other items.
Arrangement:
The collection is divided into three series.

Series 1: World's Fair Materials, 1841-1988

Series 2: Reference and Miscellaneous Materials

Series 3: Larry Zim Materials

Series 4: Oversize Materials, 1909-1968
Biographical / Historical:
Larry Zim, whose actual name was Larry Zimmerman, was an industrial designer, a historian of World's Fairs who wrote extensively on the subject, and a collector of World's Fair memorabilia.

Collection by bequest of Larry Zim.

The collection is a compilation of gifts from numerous donors, of printed materials and ephemera relating to World's Fairs.
Arrangement:
The collection is arranged into one series chronologically by fair.
Provenance:
Collected from numerous donors by the Division of Community Life (now called the Division of Home and Community Life.) A number of items in the collection were also collected for the National Museum of American History by the Division. Donors include Viola E. Willcuts, Peter M. Warner, Edith B. Meggars, Elizabeth R. Lindsay, C.W. Holt, Walter Grossman, Margaret Frick, Peter M. Warner, Esther Pauline Annis, Roy Krause, Ameriflora, Expo '92, Expo '93, Colombo, O. Morton Hallwig and Elizabeth Ann Hallwig, Mary C. Shafer, Robert Vogel, John Coppola, Stella M. Carmody, Walter and Josephine Landor, and Stephen Sheppard.

Summary:
One scrapbook, assembled by Leon Weinraub, documenting the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. The scrapbook contains postcards, photographs, menus, and other ephemera from the Fair.
Scope and Contents:
This collection consists of a souvenir scrapbook printed by the organizers of the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. Contents from the Fair include: Postcards, admission pass (signed by Jean Harlowe), photos, autographs, correspondence, menus, caricatures, and other ephemera. Leon Weinraub included additional material from 1924 and 1934-1937 (not inclusive). These items are an address book, photos, correspondence and newspaper clippings. Materials consist of approximately 1 cubic foot.
Arrangement:
The collection is arranged into one series.
Biographical / Historical:
Leon Weinraub was born in 1910. He was a member of the Evening Sun Newsboy's Band in Baltimore Maryland. In 1933 he was in Chicago attending the University of Chicago art school. He was also an employee at the Antiseptic Super Bandage exhibit at the World's Fair. After the fair ended, he worked for the Typewriter Specialists and changed his name to Leon Traub.
Provenance:
Leon Weinraub's daughter, Ms. Gail Leon of Bethesda, Maryland, donated this scrapbook in 2000.

A drawing depicting the front entrance of a Mayan temple at Uxmal. The image has been colored in green, red and orange to highlight designs on the temple. According to the description on the back of the card, this is an exact replica, located at the World's Fair in Chicago, of a temple in "far away" Yucatan.
