This now-vanished ca. 6-acre garden was designed as a series of garden rooms in the manner of Sissinghurst. The garden design incorporated several distinctive vistas.
Persons associated with the garden include: Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Caesar (former owners, ca. 1910-1925); Charles U. Caesar (former owner); J. Howard Smith (former owner, ca. 1942); and Leon Cubberly (architect, ca. 1910).

Scope and Contents:
Letters written by Charles Lang Freer to his friend and business associate Frank Hecker (1846-1927) while Freer during multiple trips to Europe between June of 1899 and July of 1903. Freer stayed for long periods of time in London, meeting with the painter James McNeill Whister. He also stayed for long periods in Paris, and at a villa that he co-owned on the Mediterranean island of Capri with his friend Thomas S. Jerome (1864-1914). The final letters describe Whistler's death on July 17th, 1903.

Sonnet for Caesar is contained in two of twenty eight folders for "Such sweet thunder" consisting of 1 two page short score, 1 three page short score and 16 parts in bb minor concert -- in ink, pencil and photocopy -- in identified hand (Sanders) and unidentified hand (DE?).
Folder A contains parts in 2 groupings -- (i) Parts for 2 trombones - Butter (2), John (2); bass (2). -- (ii) Parts for 1 reed - clarinet (2); 3 trombones - 1 (2), 2 (2), 3 (2); bass (2).
Folder B contains short scores. Short scores indicate parts for sax, clarinet, baritone, 3 trombones, bass.
