The photograph depicts women and children in front of house at 25 Iwehen Street, belonging to O. Aigouba Rueghian. He is the chief priest of Ighogho, a masked dancer that wards off small pox and other dangerous diseases. During his trip to Nigeria, Elisofon visited Benin City in the Edo region. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Westinghouse Film and traveled to Africa from October 26, 1970 to end of March 1971.

At left is Isaac Osazuwa, 17, of Benin City, with three rings on his ankle, holding keys to door to the Oba's palace courtyard. At right is Robinson Eguagie, 16, of Benin City, with one ring on his right ankle. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Life magazine and traveled to Africa from August 18, 1959 to December 20, 1959.
