Descriptive Entry:
This accession consists of records documenting the administration of the Golden Lion Tamarin Conservation Program (GLTCP). Originally administered entirely by the National Zoological Park (NZP), Department of Zoological Research, the GLTCP focused on the conservation of the golden lion tamarin in its natural habitat and was responsible for the release of captive-born golden lion tamarins into the Reserva Biológica de Poço das Antas (Brazil). In 1992, overall administration of the program was transferred to the Brazilian non-governmental organization, Associação Mico-Leão-Dourado. The Department of Zoological Research continued to administer NZP's involvement in reintroduction, tracking, and conservation education. Topics documented in this accession include fund raising, budget, conservation training, studbook administration, policies, publicity, research publication, evaluation of calling patterns, observation of released golden lion tamarins, reintroduction logistics, and involvement with international conservation organizations and committees.

This accession consists of records created and maintained by Devra G. Kleiman documenting the administration of the Golden Lion Tamarin Conservation Program (GLTCP). Kleiman served as Scientist, 1972-1982; Acting Assistant Director for Animal Programs, 1982-1983; Assistant Director for Animal Programs, 1983-1984; Assistant Director for Zoological Research and Education, 1984-1985; Assistant Director for Research, 1985-1996; Assistant Director of Zoological Research, 1996-1997, and Senior Scientist, 1997-2001. Originally administered entirely by the National Zoological Park (NZP), Department of Zoological Research, the GLTCP focused on the conservation of the golden lion tamarin in its natural habitat and was responsible for the release of captive-born golden lion tamarins into the Reserva Biológica de Poço das Antas (Brazil). In 1992, overall administration of the program was transferred to the Brazilian non-governmental organization, Associação Mico-Leão-Dourado. Kleiman and several scientific and administrative staff continued to administer NZP's involvement in reintroduction, tracking, and conservation education. Descriptive Entry:
This accession consists of records documenting the relocation and restoration of three Saturn V rockets the National Air and Space Museum (NASM) acquired from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in the early 1970s, when the Apollo Space Program concluded. One rocket, consisting entirely of stages and spacecraft intended to be launched, is on display at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The other rockets on display, one at the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida and one at the United States Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, consist of test stages not meant for flight. Curators represented in these records include Frank H. Winter and Allan A. Needell, and there is material that was created and maintained by Alfred J. Bachmeier, NASM Collections and Facilities Manager. Earlier records dated back to when the Space History Division, prior to 1987, was known as the Department of Space Science and Exploration, and as the Department of Space History from 1987 to 1997.

Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes; proposals; contracts and agreements; reports; budget summaries; meeting agendas and minutes; guidelines; articles and press releases; photographs, slides, and negatives; videotape recordings; restoration logs; fundraising information; evaluations; project schedules; architectural drawings, floor plans, and drawings; and supporting documentation. Descriptive Entry:
This accession consists of the records of Martin J. Collins, Curator, which document his activities as Co-Director of the Glennan-Webb-Seamans Project for Research in Space History. Based at and using the resources of the National Air and Space Museum, the Project provides coordination among varied repositories of space history records, public and private, and encourages the scholarship, preservation, and availability of these diverse sources. The Project also sponsors conferences, symposia, seminars, and workshops, as well as travel grants for Smithsonian staff and other scholars. Of special note is material relating to James E. Webb, former Smithsonian Regent and administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Some earlier records date back to when the Space History Division was known as the Department of Space History and the Department of Space Science and Exploration, respectively.

Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and notes; proposals; agreements; budget summaries; fundraising, committee, and survey information; meeting agendas and minutes; newspaper clippings; reports; brochures; and supporting documentation.

Fiske, Assistant Director for Administration at the National Museum of African Art (NMAfA), with earlier records dating back to when she was Assistant Director of NMAfA. Material consists of correspondence, memoranda, and notes; NMAfA weekly reports; project files pertaining to fundraising, object loans, website development, storage, and publications; Collection Information System Management Committee mission statement, meeting minutes, and reports; contracts; and NMAfA exhibition planning information, which primarily includes budget summaries, loan agreements, and grant proposals. Also includes information on the Art Bureaus Collections Information System (ARTCIS) project, a collaborative effort between Smithsonian art museums to develop a common automated off-the-shelf collections data system to be implemented in each bureau, with support from an information technology contractor.
