Scope and Contents:
Seeking, Receiving, and Spending: The Financing Game is a panel presentation and discussion from the First Annual National Black History Museum Seminar. James Lyons, Jeffrey Stans, and John Clarke from the Smithsonian's Office of Membership and Development speak about fundraising and finance. John Kinard provides an introduction of the panelists. Session concludes with a questions and answers.

Biographical / Historical:
The First Annual National Black History Museum Seminar was held at the Museum of Natural History, the Smithsonian Castle, and the Anacostia Neighborhood Museum in Washington, D.C. from May 29 - 30, 1976. The Anacostia Neighborhood Museum was the host of the seminar. The participants include staff from the Anacostia Neighborhood Museum in Washington, D.C., Museum of African American History in Boston, DuSable Museum of African American History in Chicago, African American Museum of Detroit, Society for the Preservation of Weeksville and Bedford-Stuyvesant History in Brooklyn, and African American Historical and Cultural Society in San Francisco. The goal for the seminar was to develop a national coalition of black museum professionals and further define the goals of the seminar for the future locations - Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Brooklyn, and San Francisco.

This accession consists of one website and four blogs maintained by the Asian Pacific American Program.

The "HomeSpun: The Smithsonian Indian American Heritage Project" website, crawled June 8, 2012, documents an initiative to create an exhibition chronicling the story of immigrants from India and their descendants in America. The website includes general information about the program and links to related resources. It also serves as a fund raising component for the project.

"HomeSpun Blog The Indian American Story," crawled July 28, 2011, chronicles the latest Indian American issues and about happenings at HomeSpun: The Smithsonian Indian American Heritage Project and at the Asian Pacific American Project. The blog was opened in July 2009.

The "BookDragon" blog, crawled July 28, 2011, reviews books which predominantly highlight the contributions of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans to the American experience and world cultures. The blog was opened in March 2009, but was also populated with older reviews from other sources which were back-dated.

The "Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program News and Events" blog, crawled June 11, 2012, announces new initiatives, exhibitions, and events and provides updates on ongoing programs.

"The May Project" blog, captured as a series of screenshots on June 7, 2012, celebrates Asian Pacific American perspectives from Smithsonian staff, volunteers, interns, and friends. It features images of the bloggers and short stories about their experiences. The blog was opened in May 2012.

The hashtag was used to promote the National Museum of American History's fund raising campaign for the conservation of the Ruby Slippers from the "Wizard of Oz" film.
