Video Title:
Haliphat
Description:
Palmyra is much in the news these days, yet few of us have had a chance to visit this important historic site. Now on view in the Sackler is our Palmyrene sculpture of "Haliphat," a woman who died, according to the Aramaic inscription, in 231 CE. The Smithsonian 3D Digitization team has digitized the piece; stay tuned to view it in 3D online. In the meantime, come by to see the work, accompanied by a video featuring Félix Bonfils' 1860s photographs of the city.
