Jenny JN-4D Installation in America by Air Exhibition
Description:
Collections specialists move the Curtiss JN-4D Jenny into the Museum and assemble it for display in the new America by Air exhibition (opened November, 2007). This video does not have sound. Known popularly as the "Jenny," the JN-4 taught thousands of Allied pilots to fly during World War I. After the war, surplus Jennys were widely used for "barnstorming"-traveling air shows-and they opened the first scheduled air mail service. The Smithsonian acquired this rare Jenny in 1918.
