Julia Martinez, an alumna of the 2019 Young Ambassadors Program, shared this video and a few words to describe her YAP experience: Throughout one intense week, I learned tremendously from the speakers, staff, and peers. Every activity and lesson cultivated an inviting environment to collaborate, challenge one another, ask questions, and broaden our perspectives. We programmed robots, toured museums, and danced together. I still feel the camaraderie we built over Washington Week even though I am hundreds of miles away from the other Young Ambassadors. My favorite memory from Washington Week that I will cherish forever was visiting the iconic monuments at night with my peers! Overall, the week was an enriching experience for me. I believe that young Latinx leaders must have an opportunity to learn how they can contribute to their communities in the arts, humanities, and sciences.
