Video Title:
Hindenburg Disaster May 6, 1937
Description:
Silent video of German airship Zeppelin LZ 129 "Hindenburg" bursting into flames at Lakehurst, New Jersey while the airship was landing on May 6 1937. This video was formerly displayed in the National Air and Space Museum's "Balloons and Airships" exhibition, which closed in 1990. Artifacts from the Hindenburg were on display there, along with a model of the airship and control cabin mockup used in the Universal City Studios movie version of the Zeppelins fateful final flight. The airship model now hangs in front of the Museum Store at the Museum in Washington, DC. Various objects and a piece of fabric from the Hindenburg are on display at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
