Video Title:
Eyewitness to Change
Description:
The Inuit community of Sachs Harbour, Canada, is on the frontlines of climate change in the Canadian Arctic. Narrated by members of the community and scientists, this video details the drastic changes affecting the Arctic and the impacts of these changes on the lives of Arctic residents. Sea ice is thinning and disappearing. Seals and other traditional Arctic species are moving farther north. Migration patterns are changing. Erosion and melting permafrost threatens to displace the entire community. This Canadian Arctic community co-produced a broadcast-quality video to bring attention to the impacts of climate change on their lives. Our thanks to the SILA IISD project for donating footage and narration for use the Smithsonian production.
