The pieces range from tales of lost love to tales of soldiers and sailors and include two guitar instrumentals: the Celtic "Si Bheag, Si Mhor," performed by guitarist Mike Agranoff, and "Return from Fingal" by Ken Perlman. Others contributing performances are Chris Smither ("Another Way to Find You"), John Roberts performing the Scottish song "Enlist, Bonnie Laddie," French folk singer Gabriel Yacoub singing "Bon An, Mal An," English folk singer Richard Fewtrell ("Love Is Kind"), and the female quintet A Soldier’s Fancy ("Wondrous Love").
