IAIA MoCNA Social Engagement Art Residency: Laura Ortman and Eliza Naranjo Morse
Description:
Through the Artist Leadership Program of the National Museum of the American Indian, the IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts (MoCNA) in Santa Fe invited four Native artists to access the MoCNA collection and create socially engaged art. In this video, musician and artist Laura Ortman (White Mountain Apache) and artist, teacher, builder, and farmer Eliza Naranjo Morse (Santa Clara Pueblo) describe the ideas behind their creative collaborations and what they hope others may take from the experience. A companion video on the MoCNA Social Engagement Art Residency focuses on the projects of multidisciplinary artist Steven Yazzie (Navajo/Laguna Pueblo/Anglo) and composer Nathan Young (Pawnee/Kiowa/Delaware): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo3cBxKyzbA Produced by James Lujan. © 2015 National Museum of the American Indian, Smithsonian Institution
