Video Title:
Tissue Engineered Textiles | Nature–Design Triennial
Description:
Amy Congdon applies techniques such as embroidery and crochet to the creation of diminutive but precise physical structures that can be used to help grow living cells. These textile scaffolds facilitate tissue regeneration and have applications from fashion to medicine. Congdon is also developing new tools for use in the laboratory, like those on view here. These tools are intended to suggest alternative ways of making and enable the growth of new biological materials. On view in "Nature–Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial" through January 2020. TThis video is audio described to make it more accessible. All courtesy of Amy Congdon Amy Congdon (British, active in United States, born 1986) with special thanks to the Tissue Engineering and Biophotonics Department, King’s College London, Design and Living Systems Lab and Central Saint Martins UAL, Pelling Lab University of Ottawa, and Modern Meadow
