Amy Congdon applies techniques such as embroidery and crochet to the creation of diminutive but precise physical structures that can be used to help grow living cells. These textile scaffolds facilitate tissue regeneration and have applications from fashion to medicine. Congdon is also developing new tools for use in the laboratory, like those on view here. These tools are intended to suggest alternative ways of making and enable the growth of new biological materials. On view in "Nature–Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial" through January 2020.
