Pearl Harbor Survivors: Harvey Waldron and Sikorsky JRS-1
Description:
Lt. Cmdr. Harvey Waldron, USN (ret.), a veteran JRS-1 crewman, visited the Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hangar and was reunited with the very plane that he had flown as a radioman in the days following the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He recounted the events during a three-hour oral history interview in front of the Sikorsky JRS-1. This is a short clip from that interview. The Sikorsky JRS-1 is the only aircraft in the National Air and Space Museum's collection that survived the attack on Pearl Harbor.
