Margaret Collins was the first African American female entomologist, and a civil rights leader among her fellow black scientists. Devra Kleiman's groundbreaking work in conservation biology brought the golden lion tamarin back from virtual extinction, and later led to the first birth of birth of the National Zoo’s first ever panda cub to survive in captivity.
