Video Title:
Monarch Sanctuary | Nature–Design Triennial
Description:
The population of the beloved monarch butterfly has drastically depleted due to susceptibility to agricultural pesticides, temperature changes, and land development. Terreform ONE’s proposed 30,000-square-foot sanctuary is a vertical meadow behind a glass façade with highly regulated temperature and humidity. The model shows how the façade can provide a temporary habitat for wild monarchs. On view in "Nature–Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial" through January 2020. All courtesy of Terreform ONE Mitchell Joachim (American, born 1972) and Vivian Kuan (American, born 1966), Terreform ONE (Brooklyn, New York, USA, founded 2006); Contributing Designers: Christian Hubert, Nicholas Gervasi, Maria Aiolova, Anna Bokov, Kristina Goncharov, Yucel Guven, Zhan Xu, Larissa Belcic, Shahira Hammad, Deniz Onder, James Leonard, Zack Saunders, Xinye Lin, Sabrina Naumovski, Daniel S.
